The African Innovation Foundation is calling (AIF) for all African innovators for the Innovation prize Africa (IPA) 2016. In this call-out, AIF will be providing USD 150 000 to innovative commodities that are market solutions to our ever developing continent – furthermore, the shortlisted nominees for this prize receive a 500 USD voucher to develop their existing innovations.
Under this year’s theme “Made in Africa”, IPA’s grand prize of $100 000 is awarded to the most unique, leading innovation (that has proven its economical and social benefit to Africans) . $25 000 is granted to the innovation that has received the most positive social impact, and the further 25 000 dollars to the innovation which has proven its potential to become a sustainable commercial success.
To date, the Innovation Prize Africa has invested $820 000 to over 3000 innovators, supporting 35 African entrepreneurs in ICT solutions in 49 of our 54 countries. This time, IPA has more focus to attract all 54 countries of our continent hoping for the highest participation of women and youth.
According to Jean-Clayse Bastos de Morais, AIF’s founding board member the AIF wants innovators that will feed the demand and supply of African markets, stimulating local enterprise and putting African innovation on the world map. IPA is set to host post prize opportunities for 10 young Africans and 10 women whose innovations are the direct solutions to pressing challenges in Africa. Offering incentives such as training and pitching opportunities, the association with AIF brand, as well as networking opportunities, rubbing shoulders with potential keen investors.
